ABOUT ME
I live in Cheshire, England, with my wife and child. I enjoy hiking up hills and along canals (although it is getting harder as I get older!). I also enjoy playing the guitar to a basic standard, eating nice food from around the world, and drinking wine and real ale.
I started writing in my teenage years, but this was computer programming, not novels! As a schoolboy, I was part of the first wave of coders when home computing and gaming were in their infancy. My very first job was in the IT industry, writing computer games for a very old computer called the Commodore 64, and later the Atari 800. I then moved into the serious and grown-up world and worked for IBM, writing code for accountants and payroll departments, well paid but not as much fun!
A love of reading since a youngster led to a love of writing, and soon the craft of writing fiction became an all-consuming passion. I’m currently working on my tenth novel, and each one feels special to me.
I wrote three comic novels (Hog Heaven, Morfudd’s Revenge, and A Curious Chemistry) and, after a dalliance with traditional publishing, became an independent author, publishing on Amazon, where I have a Gothic Fantasy trilogy (Ravensmere), and starting next year, a Historical Fantasy series (The Septimus Knights Adventures). I also write Historical fiction and have a crime series, The Melville Mysteries, also coming out in 2026.

My goal is to write accessible, commercial fiction with engaging characters, plots that move at a pace and with intrigue, and emotional resonance. I aim to create, with all my books, a world where people will return time and again, making them feel as if it’s an old friend.
